‘The Dark Lens’ series places stormtroopers, droids, AT-ATs, Darth Vader and more in eerie, blighted landscapes that seem as if they could be from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

But a bunch of strong extragalactic microwave - and radio-sources are out there too, mucking up our picture!

By comparing photos taken at different times, scientists can subtract out objects that appear stationary, like far-off galaxies, and focus on things that appear to be moving in orbits, like asteroids.
