Better economic figures released this year, alongside emerging signs of a slowdown in US economic potential, has led to tumbling market expectations of a rate cut in recent weeks.

Yet much of this relief is based on a single expectation: that the Fed will cut interest rates soon, perhaps even before its next rate setting meeting on September 18th.
