基础主义 [foundationalism]，一种认识论观点，认为有些信念可以正当地直接掌握(即在感性知觉或理性直觉的基础上)，而无需经由其他信念推论而来。在这样的观点下，其他种类的信念(也就是关于物质对象或科学理论实体的信念)并不被认为是基本或基础的，而需要由其他信念推论而来。基础主义者的典型特色，就是将自明的真理、感觉材料与感官材料的呈现视为基本的，在这样的观点下，这些东西就无需其他信念的支持。
