薄束核（Gracile Nucleus）、楔束核（Cuneate Nucleus）分别位于延髓下部，薄束结节和楔束结节深面，接受脊髓传导本体感觉和精细触觉的薄束和楔束的上行纤维。薄束核、楔束核发出的纤维，弓形走向中央管腹侧，左、右交叉，称为内侧丘系交叉， 因交叉后的纤维在中线两侧上行成为内侧丘系（Dorsal Column Nuclei）。其中由薄束核发出的纤维传导下半身；楔束核发出的纤维传导上半身。内侧丘脑系位于延髓锥体束背面、中线两旁上行，经脑桥、中脑止于背侧丘脑。
