跟单汇票是随附全套货运单据的汇票。它是商业汇票的一种，其作用有二：(1) 是有关关系人的信用凭证。(2) 是物权凭证。即期跟单汇票和托收项下付款交单 (D/P) 的跟单汇票，均以付款作为物权的转移条件，远期跟单汇票和托收项下承兑交单 (D/A)的跟单汇票，则以付款人承兑作为物权转移的条件。在当代国际贸易结算中，一般都使用跟单汇票作为国际结算的信用工具和支付凭证。
