abstract:The Consolidated Pastoral Company (CPC) is a large, privately owned, Australian cattle company which operates 18 cattle stations covering over 57,000 km2, managing more than 350,000 cattle, in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland. It produces beef cattle for the South East Asian live export and grass-fed Japanese Ox markets.
On March 13th Terra Firma, a private-equity firm based in London, announced it would buy 90% of ConsolidatedPastoralCompany, the vast Australian cattle holdings of the Packer family, which encompass 5m hectares (12m acres) of land.
