And while one of those proposals would strengthen measures to keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill people who represent a danger to themselves or others, undoubtedly a very good and popular idea, what about the larger issue of the way we deal with detection, diagnosis, treatment and protection of those with serious mental problems in general?
There is also still a danger that it will turn out that there is something else toxic in the system that will keep the crisis going, but Jon Danielsson doubts that.
