In concluding, the Director-General welcomed the proposal to explore avenues of cooperation in order to develop and disseminateknowledge on much needed intercultural competencies in particular in areas such as education and the media so as to create new opportunities to address conflict prevention and promote enhanced collaboration amongst diverse communities and respect for differences through dialogue.
To take full advantage of the immense body of material accumulated during this ambitious project, UNESCO has recently launched a new online initiative to compile and disseminate this valuable knowledge for the benefit of academic, cultural and artistic professionals as well as the general public.
EU-funded seminars constitute a third form of bad welfare and a waste of talent because in most cases they recycle and disseminate public information and knowledge providing income for both, those who give them and those who take them-often the right political clientele-rather than a vehicle for defusing and disseminating genuine knowledge.
