Global shipments of tablet PCs are expected to top 60 million units in 2011 with shipments from Apple likely to total 40 million units for a 60% share.
The report, from Gartner, sees tablets becoming the dominant form of personal computer (after mobile phones) in the next few years at the expense of traditional desktop PCs, even as total numbers of new users are on the upswing.
