abstract:The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) was established in 1980, under the joint sponsorship of International Council for Science and the World Meteorological Organization, and has also been sponsored by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO since 1993. It is a component of the World Climate Programme.
The Planet Under Pressure conference is organized by Diversitas, the International Programme of Biodiversity Science, the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change, and the WorldClimateResearchProgramme.
The publication was commissoned in conjunction with Surface Ocean - Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS), the International Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (ICACGP), The WorldClimateResearchProgramme (WCRP), The International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR).
As such, they form an essential component of marine observing systems established as part of the World Weather Watch, the WorldClimateResearchProgramme, the Global Ocean Observing System, the Global Climate Observing System and other meteorological and oceanographic operational and research programmes.
