This low oral bioavailability shows that in the monkey model, pregnancy does not alter the substantial metabolism to inactive conjugates that occurs in the GI tract and liver afteroralingestion and limits internal exposures to BPA and when compared with injections.
It is also important to compare directly the differences in the levels of both BPA and its inactive metabolites in the body from both ways of administering the chemical since injection bypasses the substantial metabolism in the GI tract that occurs afteroralingestion.
